A Beginning

By Anitya

Yes,

it’s a start, I suppose, and getting this far has proven to be a perfect example of why I started this blog in the first place. For the past three days I’ve meandered from simple to complex,  from being cool to being being austere, adding and removing features, just to end up with a relatively simple design which basically lets me do what I wanted in the first place: type text, add links, and publish.

It’s so easy to lose yourself in a project once you get started, and it is especially easy to lose track of what you wanted to do if you are confronted by a plethora of options you didn’t know that you could have but maybe should have. In the end I decided to spare you the agony of choice I was faced with myself and go for readability and a hopefully manageable amount of future content.

A Short Introduction

seems to be in order. I’m a 34 year old guy from Amsterdam. The last eight months have been eventful for me, to say the least. Most importantly I discovered that I have had an alcohol addiction for, let’s say, fifteen years. I’ve since have had myself hospitalised and am proud to say that I haven’t touched a drop since. I mention this, not to create an overly dramatic tone to this whole writing business, but mainly because it has shaped my life to a significant extent and it is bound to crop up once in a while and I don’t want you to be confused. It’s part of my life, it will be for me always, and as such is important. I don’t want to pull a Scooby Doo on you and only at the end reveal that the bad guy was this ordinary old geezer in a mask. It’s the old geezer. He was wearing a mask. There, plot spoiled.

I’ve been a theatre maker for over fifteen years and I am a bibliophile with a penchant for new technology. And to round it all of I practice Zen and am at the moment a volunteer working at a Tibetan Buddhist Center right here in the center of Amsterdam.

Closing Statements

I have no idea how this will develop. It’s a work in progress for which I have plans, but I am not going to put myself on the spot and reveal them to you. Tough, that’s life. I dó hope that you will find it a diverting read and will like my contributions. We will see, one never really knows.

  1. Welcome to the world of blogging! :)
Congrats on your honest intro. Are you using http://www.twitterfeed.com to tell us about your new posts? Or are you tweeting them manually?

Of mag ik het gewoon in het Nederlands schrijven? ;)

    • Thanks for the welcome. :)
I’m using Twitter Tools for my blogtweeting. Will have a look at your tool though, still getting my bearings.

You can always post in Dutch, but as I know a lot of people that are native English speakers, I thought it best to proceed in that language.
It also forces me to think about what I am actually writing. ;)
